On the 22nd we will have been in Utah a month. I feel pretty well settled. We are all unpacked, I found a pediatrician for the kids, Cailey has found a few friends at church, and I have got a physical therepist for Jason. I am very excited that Jason will be meeting with a physical therepist now. I tried getting a therapist before we moved but the person I met with did not see an issue and thought that his delays in gross motor stemmed from the helmet and said I should get a physical therepist after he got his helmet off.
Anyway we met with a therepist here in Utah. My experience was totally different. For one the therepist came to us that was so much easier! She also spent an hour with him to make sure she knew what all he needed to work on and before she left she gave us a bunch of exercises to do with him throughout the day.
I am so relieved that I am going to get the help I need to get him caught up. We have been doing exercises with him as much as possible. Poor kid is so tired by the end of the day, he is such a trooper! He is cutting 4 teeth on top of it all. Despite the therepy and teething he is still all smiles.
Some of the exercises we are working on are tummy time, the goal is to get in an hour each day I to break it up into 12 5-minute sessions. I try to do tummy time on either a rolled up towel or on my chest or over my knee. To give him variety. He is getting much better. Tummy time has always been a struggle for him, but he is getting stronger.
Since he doesn't put much weight on his legs-or he didn't until last week, We have made a lot of progress with this one. I would clamp his feet in between my legs and push up on his bum to help him put weight on his legs. He has gotten much better at this. He will now stand and on to furniture for a minute or two.
We are also supposed to tickle him. His core is still weak, so a good exercise for that is tickling! The physical therepist says that when you are tickled your body tenses. So all the tickling should help strengthen his core.
Another excercise we were given to help strengthen his core is bouncing him on our knees, or giving him horsey rides. Interesting huh? I did not know that those two activities were beneficial I just thought they were fun. :)
We are also trying to teach to roll from his back to his belly, he is a pro at rolling from his belly his back he does anything to escape tummy time. In order to do this we something he wants out of his reach then as he tries to reach for it your roll his hips then pull back on him to put on his elbows. If that doesn't make sense check out the video clip below.

This has meant a lot of attention for Jason, Cailey the little sweetheart, easily could get jealous but has not. She is such a good big sister. I have done the horsey rides for her too and try my best to include her in everything. She loves to take care of him, whenever he cries she runs over to him to calm him by singing "Twinkle Little Star" so cute! She also loves playing patty cake with him. What a good big sister.
Here is a video of them playing patty cake together.
